Renewable Energy Changing Rural Lives

Towards African Youth Conference on Energy and Climate Change ,Beyond Dar Campaign reached Kigoma rural to know how rural residents use energy to improve their living standard.

Renewable energy changing rural lives,in our outreach service in Kigoma we laernt how people in the rural areas use solar energy to incerase their income. Apart from using solar energy for light and other domestic use, solar energy has  proved to be one of the cheapest energy source that can transform people's lives.
Some small entrepreneur in Kigoma are using  solar energy to make income. The leading product that use solar energy is Red Pemba or Udongo made by special soil obtained near the border of Tanzania and Burundi while white pemba is made of soil obtained from burundi.
Mr.Mganga of Mwandiga Kigoma has managed to employ more than five people working with him to make pemba ,he sells pemba for Tshs.100/- per piece and Tshs.4000/- per bag as whole sale.Pemba is made by using water and soil well soften then filtered and rolled up in pemba shape and lastly well dried by natural sunlight hence making it even cheaper to produce.
White pemba is mostly consumed in Kigoma and Tabora while Red is mostly consumed in Dar es Salaam,Morogoro and Dodoma.
Solar energy has been also used to dry Sardine or Dagaa wa kigoma ,well dried sardine are packed and transported to other regions for sell.
Solar lamp are used during the evening for provision of light at night for long working schedule and for security purposes.
Young Lawyers is planning to share more technology to increase more production and better packaging for the products  and extension of their market.
